Gene Stovall celebrates the musical genius of such artist as John Lennon, Sly Stone, Kurt Cobain, Stevie Wonder, Thom York, D’Angelo, and Pharrell Williams. "Gene Stovall: Live at Shadow Lounge 3.2" takes place on Friday, February 20, 2009 and will be his last concert as a Pittsburgh resident. This event also doubles as Stovall's birthday party featuring DJs SMI, Selecta, Huggy, and Phil Da Bass! Doors open at 9pm and the concert starts at 10pm with a cover. Gene Stovall was trained musically at Duquesne University, Mary Pappert School of Music for Vocal Performance with Professor Maurene Budway and at the Pittsburgh School for the Creative and Performing Arts as a Vocal Performance Major by David Jennings Smith. Stovall’s latest independent project is “Gene Stovall vs Geno Jive”, which is a collection of works by Stovall that shows the singer versus the rapper. He released has debut recording Gene Stovall: Live @ The Shadow Lounge, PGH in Summer of 2003 and The Rent Party EP on New Year’s Eve 2005 with Eviction Notice. Stovall is currently singing and arranging vocal harmonies for such artist and bands as Stovallian Method, Famous Mr. Nobodies, Poogie Bell Band, Margot B., Reggie Watkins, Project Portis, Boaz, Wiz Khalifa, Excalibur Swords, The Rhetoric, The Boogie Hustlers, Formula 412, Gemini, Scientific Map, The After Party, and Glory Box. In 2006, Stovall co-founded Seriendipitty Entertainment with Erie’s own Sarah Lieb, a Gannon University graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater and Communications Arts. Seriendipitty Entertainment bridges the gap between regional underground performing acts and open minded live music venues. Not on purpose, but more often because of one of lifes many surprises! Good fortune, luck, and blessings surround us all in different ways, shapes, and forms! Its up to us not to get lost in our daily grinds, and celebrate our existence. Seriendipitty celebrates this same idea by promoting events where you might find something different than what is usually expected. Its still Gene and Sarah, but they wanted a name that represented where they came from as individuals (Hence, the apparent misspelling of the word). Now it has both ERIE and PITTsburgh in it, EN (Eviction Notice) and hunny DIP, and the beginning kinda sounds like Sarah.
