Situated between the mountain villages of Blonay and St-Legier, this hilltop stronghold was originally constructed in 1184. The Blonay family, members of the Swiss nobility, held ownership of this castle for its entire existence, except for the period between 1752 and 1806, when they fell on hard financial times and sold the castle, then repurchased it over fifty years later. Blonay is situated just above the lake-front municipality of Vevey and below the resort area of Les Pleiades.
