Yverdon-les-Bains is near the Swiss city of Lausanne and has a long history, including occupation by the Romans and, later, by Napolean. The castle's original construction dates back to the mid-11th Century. During the 1800's it was the home of noted Swiss educational reformer Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi. Today the castle houses an historical museum of the Yverdon district. It sits on a beautiful square in the center of the old town.
